Macquarie Barracks Motor Inn

We’ve had very good stays on recent visits, but this time the front desk lady’s attitude put us off coming back. We usually check in around lunchtime, and she said the rooms were still being cleaned. We sat outside for an hour and a half and didn’t see any room doors opened for cleaning, so that didn’t seem true. Later, an elderly woman asked about a late checkout and was bluntly told checkout was at 10am. We won’t stay there again because of how she treated people.

My wife and I enjoyed our few days here. The bed was really comfortable, the floor was clean, and the bathroom and kitchenette were modern and spotless. The bedroom could use some paint, but the service was excellent. They dealt with all our requests, and help was nearby.

For a one night stop, the location worked well. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and it’s central. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and although the rooms felt a bit dated, ours was clean and the beds were comfortable. At night, we could hear loud running water whenever someone in the neighbouring room flushed the toilet. Still, it was okay for a stop along the way.

We slept really well in a comfortable bed, and the friendliest cat wandered around with the cleaners. I don’t know her name, but she belongs to the hotel. We didn’t get a chance to try the pool, though it looked pretty cool. The only issue was the water, which was lukewarm and took a while to get cold.
