Ocean Breeze Motel

We were very happy with our night here while visiting Port Macquarie. The motel is clearly cared for by its owners. Our cute room was beautifully clean and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower brilliant, while the air conditioning and ceiling fan were a godsend. Smart TV and included wifi were nice extras too. It's not far from the main part of town and close to Oxley Beach. We'd absolutely stay again. Thanks so much for having us!

The two bedroom rooms were comfortable and had all we needed. A bit dated, but clean, and some areas had clearly been freshly painted. The lighting was stark, though there were some nice furnishing touches. Air conditioning in the main room worked well enough for the bedrooms too. It's handy for beaches and the Coastal walk, but a bit of a hike into town. For four people, it was a reasonable stay at about the same price as a caravan park cabin.

After this stay, we will NEVER come back. We've been repeat guests for over two years, and the motel had always accommodated our requests for particular rooms. This time we asked for Room 7 or 8 when booking and were told before arrival that Room 8 would be available. After a 100-kilometre round trip, we were given Room 4 instead. When we asked why, the response was rude and dismissive, with a puerile excuse that “rooms are not reserved,” even though they'd clearly been reserved for us several times before. There was no customer care at all.

The photos make the rooms look luxurious, but they're not. The room was revamped, yet stark, freezing and overpriced. Thin walls let other motel guests' noise through, which was annoyingly loud. We were cold, the blankets weren't adequate, and the air conditioning couldn't warm the space properly. Even the two-pack of biscuits felt budgeted to the max. It was clean, at least. The photographer deserves five stars.
