Melaleuca Motel

I appreciated that the owner was courteous and check-in was smooth when we arrived around 6 PM on 23 January for my wife’s birthday. But the stay was badly affected by ongoing issues in Room No. 16. When we returned from sightseeing around 10 PM, there was no internet in the family room, so the TV wouldn’t work either. We’d hoped to cut the cake and play music, but ended up going out near the port just to celebrate. The Wi-Fi and TV still weren’t working the next night, even after I reported it again at reception and showed the error. The receptionist acknowledged it and said it would be looked into, and I emailed the property around 10:30 PM too. The following day, the owner checked the room and said everything was working, although it took him about 15 minutes to connect to Wi-Fi. He denied there might be a problem. Rooms closer to reception clearly had better connectivity, while those farther away struggled. On the morning of 24 January, I also told the cleaners and reception that the sheets and pillowcases smelled strongly unpleasant. The cleaners were polite and changed them promptly, which I appreciated. A toaster in another room was extremely dirty and unusable; after we reported it, reception replaced it quickly. Some staff were helpful, but the lack of accountability and inconsistent response really affected our experience, especially on a special occasion like a birthday. When guests report genuine problems, acknowledgment and a solution matter more than denial.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and felt fresh and well looked after. Great service and a nice place to relax. I absolutely loved my stay, and I’d happily come back and recommend it.

The beach and town centre were both an easy walk away, and the stay was great value. My room at the Melaleuca Motel was clean and very well maintained. The manager was friendly and welcoming, and I’d 100% stay again next time I’m in Portland.

The beds were comfy and the linen was fresh. The owner was great to chat with, and the cleaners really went the extra mile. Pubs and supermarkets were an easy walk away, and it was very kid friendly. They have everything you need.
