A five minute walk across the bridge takes you to the main street and all Richmond has to offer. The cottage was lovely inside and out, tastefully decorated, with a good kitchen, great breakfast provisions and a big four poster bed we loved. It sits beside the creek near the historic bridge, with lovely views from indoors and from the table and chairs outside. Very quiet, and the car park is right by the front door. The hosts checked us in, though usually it’s self check in. Nothing to improve, just a great night.

The Mill House Cottage made it easy to soak up Richmond, with the bridge right there and all the lovely shops and cafes in walking distance. We took photos from dawn to dusk, and all that history and heritage really stayed with us. The bridge is Australia's oldest, with every brick handmade by convicts. The cottage had comfortable furniture, whimsical displays and Christmas ornaments, plus a handy kitchen with the basics. Sue had left eggs, ham, butter, milk, orange juice and yoghurt in the fridge. The bed was very comfortable, with gorgeous linen and towels, and the shower was amazing. There was WiFi and two TVs, though we never got a chance to watch. We stayed three nights and loved it. Rob and Sue were friendly, helpful hosts and great communicators. We’d been travelling around Tasmania for five weeks and needed laundry, so Sue kindly let us wash our clothes. Walking in to the smell of freshly baked bread made us feel at home straight away. We’ll miss the cottage and keep those Richmond memories with us. Truly wonderful, I highly recommend staying at the Mill House Cottage.

We changed our plans after spotting the Mill House in Richmond on arrival in Hobart, and booked a night there before flying out. It’s right beside Richmond Bridge, a unique spot. The cottage was lovely and comfortable, with everything we needed. The hosts were very nice and friendly, cat included. Richmond is a lovely town, and this is a great place to stay. It’ll be first on my list if I return to Hobart.

Cosy and warm, with a view of the bridge, and simply perfect for our one night. The Mill House Cottage sits in a pretty setting by the iconic Richmond Bridge, just a short stroll from the village. The hosts showed us the amenities and were very helpful, leaving scrumptious breakfast provisions. You could easily stay longer: there’s a well-equipped kitchen, a table for two, a very comfortable lounge, and a separate bedroom with ensuite.
