Nightcap at Riverside Hotel

The building looks a bit gloomy from outside, but the rooms have been updated and feel modern. We booked at the last minute, so ended up in a one-bedroom room. Even with five of us, there was enough space and the beds were comfortable. The receptionist was friendly and helpful when we booked and checked in. Breakfast can be brought to the room, and the price was very reasonable.

We had dinner here, but our request about the food was turned down by the woman taking our order, and the meal was only average. The room was basic, with thin walls, so we could hear the couple next door arguing. Reception is in an odd spot, though check-in went smoothly.

The staff were really friendly, and staying here gets you a discount at the bistro next door plus a free drink ticket for each person. Our three-bedroom apartment had loads of space, a decent-sized kitchen and a fridge-freezer that held plenty. Room service is available for lunch and dinner. The couches were comfortable, and even in this small place, you could barely hear living-room conversation from the far bedroom. One thing to know is the apartment has a single bathroom, reached only through the main or second bedroom, with no separate entrance. The cleaners did a thorough job in the shared areas, including the kitchen, dining and living spaces and bathroom, but left the bedrooms as they were.

The staff were accommodating, and we had a great stay in a very good location. There wasn't any ice in our room freezer, but the bar staff were happy to fill a zip-lock bag for us when we brought one over. We'd recommend staying here and plan to come back.
