Pelicans Motel San Remo

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The hotel is run-down and badly in need of care, especially for the price. There wasn’t even a doona on the bed, just an old thin blanket, and I was freezing. The bathroom was terrible: the sliding door wouldn’t close properly, even after my husband tried lifting it, and the exhaust fan was filthy with dust. On a windy night we heard banging on the roof all night. We worked out the antenna was hitting the long cylinder it sits inside. Not an enjoyable stay.

We found the staff friendly and very helpful, and there was plenty of parking. The room was quiet and clean, with the expected facilities and a comfortable bed. It’s not luxury, but felt like good value and is close to the shops. Two small annoyances: the shower door was a tight squeeze for a plus-size man like me, and the fridge thermostat was so cold that some of our milk froze. I don’t understand all the bad reviews. I’d stay again.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but otherwise it was very old and basic. The bathroom fan was so loud, there was no toilet roll holder or tea towel, and the power point on the right side of the bed didn’t work. The ceiling fan and LED bedside lights were there, but the net and generic blockout curtains didn’t keep the light out. San Remo has lots to offer, so I’ll leave the choice up to you.

Right in the heart of San Remo, this is a great affordable place to stay. The room was clean and tidy, and the bed was comfy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming when I arrived, and the other guests were courteous too. I highly recommend Pelicans Motel and will come back for a longer stay.
