Doctor Syntax Hotel

Our waitress and the rest of the service were amazing. My partner's half shell scallops were cooked just right and beautifully presented. My T-bone had quite a bit of gristle, but the flavour was so good that it didn't bother me much, and the mushroom gravy was next level. We ate in the dining room on the evening of 4/2/26. Everything was amazing.

We can't wait to come back for another meal. The food was outstanding, and the dining room was clean and nicely presented. A female staff member greeted us as soon as my wife and I came in for lunch today, 14/05/26, and the customer service was outstanding too. Great job by all. YUMO Mark & Tracey S

The meals are nicely presented and affordable. As locals, that's what we come here for. It can get noisy when the crowd gets jovial, but there is a covered outdoor seating area. The car park is big, though it may fill up around meal times.

I've had four meals at Doctor Syntax over four months, across two separate trips to Tas In Kate 2025, and I can't speak highly enough of the food. The crumbed scallops were top-notch, with a light, just-right coating. I can't stand it when the coating is like concrete 😆. The roasts were proper roasts, with baked potato and pumpkin, vegetables that were neither overcooked nor half raw, tender meat (turkey most recently) and really nice gravy. I haven't tried entrees or dessert, so can't comment on those. The service was warm, engaging and professional. I'm no guru or foodie, but credit where it's due. Dr Syntax, I dips me lid. You've nailed what I expect from a pub meal. See you next time I'm in Tassie.
