Victoria Lake Holiday Park

The staff were fantastic, friendly, and warned me at check-in about the track noise. The park is well maintained and centrally placed for exploring Shepparton, and the lake is beautiful and clearly cared for as a bird sanctuary. It’s a lovely view to wake up to. We booked a lakefront site, but it really faces the walking track. People use it constantly, from 6:00 AM until late at night, walking laps and talking loudly right outside. E-bikes and e-scooters fly past at what feels like 50+ km/h, which was worrying with a toddler only metres from the track. Local dirtbikes were also revving and hitting their limiters along the track and nearby streets through the evening. The worst was the adjacent train line. I knew it was there, but at 1:00 AM last night V/Line started track work, using a crane to drop concrete sleepers onto the ballast about 30m from our camper. The concrete crashing onto rocks for two hours was deafening. Our toddler stayed awake screaming from 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM, and the night was ruined. The park can’t control the public track or V/Line’s maintenance schedule, but all the outside noise made the stay incredibly stressful. If you do stay, avoid the waterfront sites if you want privacy or have little kids, bring heavy-duty earplugs, and expect a very urban camping experience. Despite the park’s best efforts, we won’t return to Shepparton or this park.
