Tudor House Motel

I meant to book Saturday night, but accidentally booked a room at 8.30pm on Friday for that same night. I called as soon as I noticed, but nobody answered. I left several messages that night and the next day asking for a call back, and no one got back to me. When I finally reached someone mid morning the next day, they said I'd be charged the full amount for the wrongly booked night, plus another night's fee if I wanted to stay Saturday. I tried to reason with them and even asked for some kind of discount, but the man on the phone and woman at reception wouldn't help. They were very rude and nonchalant when I explained my family's circumstances and seemed not to care. In the end, I left and didn't stay Saturday, but they charged me for Friday as a "no show." People in town told me this place doesn't have the best reputation for service, cleanliness or quality. I'll never stay at this motel and will tell everyone about the lack of compassion. Avoid it and stay somewhere else.

For our one-night stay, everything we needed was there. Late arrival was no problem: we got in after 9pm and reception was still open. There was no security deposit or bond, despite what some earlier reviews said. The bedding was clean, the bathroom had been freshly renovated, and it came with a hairdryer and a full set of toiletries, even shaving cream. The air conditioner and heater both worked well. The parking area was a bit small, but we had no trouble fitting our van.

The owner was so welcoming and lovely, and I felt at ease straight away. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed: a fridge, microwave, and tea and coffee facilities. The location was great, central to shops and dining. We booked one night and it was perfect.

The woman who greeted us was lovely and very friendly, and check-in was easy. Our room was clean and a good size, with a huge TV and a stylish new bathroom. Parking was okay, though a little tight and tricky. It's central to town.
