Oaks Townsville Gateway Suites

The town view was stunning, especially from the pool, which was warm and clean. We had a fantastic stay in this modern, nicely designed hotel, where everything felt fresh and comfortable. We booked two spacious rooms, one for us and one for the kids, which made things easy and relaxed. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was excellent and fully equipped. Everything was sized just right, with no cramped feeling. We’d definitely come back.

The beds were the worst I’ve slept on in a hotel. Two smaller mattresses were pushed together to make a king, and the gap between them was unbelievably uncomfortable. I couldn’t lie in the middle at all. The staff did their best to help, but the problem wasn’t fixed. The beds were also rock hard, with no comfort whatsoever. I’ve never had it this bad. There were cockroaches in my room too, and the bed was made poorly, with pillows left on the floor. Disappointed, to say the least. I won’t be back.

We enjoyed the stay. The apartments are modern and very spacious, the service was good, and we were given both early check-in and late check-out, which was nice. The location is good too. Just a few small kitchen gripes: no toaster, so we used the oven grill, no oven trays, and no hand soap in the kitchen. We had to keep going into the bathrooms for soap to wash our hands.

The suite was spacious, clean and comfortable, right in the city centre. Restaurants are within walking distance. It was well equipped with a cooking stove, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The fan alone kept the room cool enough day and night. I loved watching the sunrise from the balcony.
