Mercure Melbourne Southbank

The room was quiet, with excellent blackout blinds and a really comfortable bed. It was spacious and the location was great. The room could do with an update, but since I was out during the day and evenings, it suited me perfectly for sleeping. Nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done.

We booked a four-night package for our first Australian Open and the location was great. The room was fine, the bed very comfortable, and the place was very clean. The bathroom could use an upgrade, though, and I had to call guest services a few times for towels after the room was serviced. Room service also meant collecting the order from reception, which is awkward if you’re already in your PJs. The buffet breakfast was great!

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and our clean, comfortable riverview room made for a nice stay. The location is handy, right by Southbank and just minutes from the city on foot. The bathroom could use a refresh, and the lighting wasn’t great. We arrived late and would have appreciated 24-hour room service. I’d stay again.

I was given a 2nd floor room without an amenity set-up. At check-in, staff said the lower-floor allocation was because I’d booked through a 3rd party, and suggested booking directly through the hotel website next time for better room allocation and benefits. Management might consider recognizing the staff for promoting direct bookings so professionally.
