Geraldine and DAvid were wonderful hosts, and breakfast was outstanding. Our gorgeous seaview room had easy access and great parking, and we enjoyed using the front lounge room at Poet’s Cottage. It made a perfect base for our three-night stay. We took several day trips and had immediate access to great dining at Hersey’s Seafood and the Stanley Hotel. We expected top quality and certainly weren’t disappointed. It’s easy to see why this place received #1 B&B in Tasmania for 2026. Congrats!

The location made it easy to walk to town and the waterfront, and the breakfast choices were good quality. The hosts were very attentive, and they responded quickly to all our messages. The linen was high quality and the whole of Poet’s Cottage was scrupulously clean. Everything about it was excellent.

The upstairs bed had a stunning sea view, and waking up to that ocean outlook was magical. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the cottage felt cosy and beautifully homey. Breakfast was a lovely touch, especially the host’s delicious homemade scrambled eggs. The host family at Poet’s Cottage Stanley were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and communication was easy from start to finish. It’s close to everything in Stanley too. We had a wonderful stay, highly recommend it, and would happily return.

The home-cooked breakfast was a bonus, as was the comfortable lounge we could use. Dave and Geraldine were friendly and welcoming at their beautifully restored Poets Cottage. Our room was clean and very comfortable, and the cottage is well located with lovely views. We’d definitely recommend it and stay again if visiting Stanley.

The hosts were lovely and gave us useful tips on where to go and how to spot the penguins. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was cooked to order and really tasty. A terrific heritage BNB in a charming little town.
