We stayed in an old bus with a view over the river. From bed, we watched spoonbills resting with cormorants and other water birds on a tiny island. There's a small but significant patch of intact native bushland along the river to admire. The park facilities worked well and were easy to use, the budget bus options were quite adequate, and the staff were great.

Try to book a cabin with parking out front. Without it, you may have to pass through another property to get to your room, as we did, which was awkward with luggage. The cabin was small for the number of beds, though manageable for a short stay. Its air conditioner couldn't cool it enough in the summer heat, so we sat outside until it cooled down. Power is limited to one appliance at a time, but that was clearly explained. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, the washers and dryers are free, and the cabin has cutlery plus access to an air fryer, microwave and kettle. There's an outdoor kitchen too. The shared toilets and washrooms were clean and well maintained. Coffee costs a few dollars, though it could be better. If you can, I'd highly recommend a lakefront cabin, it's the best option here and makes the stay much nicer. Overall, good value for money.

The cabin was a little small, but had what we needed, and the beds were very comfortable. The caravan park was so clean, and the pool was clean too, with a sauna and BBQ area. There's a great little play space for kids. The converted old buses and caravans look awesome. Highly recommend.

The location was great, and reception communication was good, but the room didn't feel properly clean. The floor and table were sticky, there was dust packed into the shower vent, and a child's toy had been left under the couch. Shampoo was empty and there was no conditioner. It was okay for a night, but the aircon was set to 37 degrees when we arrived, and melted freezer ice had spilled across the floor, so we had to clean before unpacking. They need to clean more thoroughly before the next guest comes in.

The retro buses and vans were well equipped and comfortable, and we all had a good time. It's a short distance from the lovely town of Stawell, and the general feeling was that we'd hold the next family gathering at Grampians Gate Park. The place has everything you need, and the staff were extremely helpful once you finally find them. Booking through a computerised system, which I hate, is why I gave four stars. I had to upgrade my accommodation to fit a family reunion, and the system made it more complicated than it needed to be. Once I tracked down a human, we worked it out in a way that suited both parties.
