We canceled the next night and had to find somewhere else to stay. The clocks in the shop directly below our Napoleon room kept ringing and gonging during the night. My wife texted the owner the next day, and he assured us he’d fix it so we could sleep well the following night, but the noise was unchanged. When we spoke to him the next morning, he apologised and said he should have turned off all the clocks. There was also a mouldy smell coming from the stairwell into the three rooms of our apartment. Dust was visible on the floor in the decorative entrance area, which guests can see through a black wrought iron grille, and on the French sideboard in our bedroom. There was also a used tissue on the floor by the sideboard. The owner hadn’t provided the soy milk we requested when booking. He said he’d make amends for these problems, but later changed his mind.

The renovated bathroom was luxurious and elegant, and the kitchenette was well appointed. The bedroom had a magnificent sleigh bed, period decor and crisp white linen. It’s a wonderfully restored property that made it easy to relax and rest. Thanks Rob.

Right on the main road, with parking and shops nearby, this was comfortable, homely and spotless accommodation. The minimalist look still felt very homey, and the decor was lovely. They’d provided thoughtful extras like snacks, bread, milk and juice. There were plenty of amenities too, including sensor lights, a TV, USB charging ports, an iron, a hair dryer, a walk-in shower with good pressure, thick soundproofing windows, a fridge, and indoor and outdoor seating. Thank you for the lovely stay.

We spent two nights here while visiting the Grampians. The Napoleon Suite was outstanding, with comfy beds and an artistic touch. I’ll definitely stay again.

The beds were probably the best part, very comfortable in both rooms. The showers were good quality too. We spent three nights here for a short break last week, with the first two nights upstairs in the Napoleon Suite and the third downstairs in the Garden Suite because of room availability. They’re very different in space, decor and accessibility, but each is nice in its own way. Rob met us on arrival and showed us around. He was lovely and gave us suggestions for eating out. On the day we changed rooms, he had the new one ready before 10:00am, so we could move our gear straight across. We were surprised by the extras: a fresh loaf of bread, a block of chocolate, potato chips, a litre of milk, a litre of fruit juice, butter, a selection of jams, and the usual tea and coffee. Coffee came with a pod machine and milk frother. Cafes and shops are very close since you’re on a corner in the main street, but that street isn’t a thoroughfare, so traffic noise wasn’t a problem. Woolworths is a short 50m walk for supplies. We didn’t hear any clocks from the clock repair shop downstairs, which a previous reviewer mentioned, though we could hear the town hall clock from the upstairs room, as anyone nearby would. Rob has done a great job renovating, restoring and decorating the accommodation to a very high standard. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I’d recommend it if you’re after something more luxurious than a regular motel.
