The beds were super comfy, and the old AC rattled but kept the room at a steady temperature. It quieted down after a while. The bathroom radiator heater above the sink worked, though it had seen better days. The front entrance room and bedrooms were relatively quiet, but there was traffic noise through the back window. If we were nearby again, we might look elsewhere, but we’d stay at Hi-Way Eight Motor Inn if nothing else was available. I’d rate it 3 star. It wasn’t bad, but we’ve stayed in much better. The rooms were an adequate size but laid out strangely, and the renovations don’t make the kitchen, bathroom and toilet areas easy to use. There’s little to no bathroom bench space, and the bathroom sink doubles as the kitchen sink. The old shower is tiny, with a curtain and just enough room to turn around, so it’d be great if you’re 5 ft tall. Still, the heat and pressure were good. There’s no soap holder or shelf, and no bathroom fan. The window was the always-open type. Instead of repairing the rotted wood trim, it had simply been thickly painted over. The place was clean, though the kitchen ware and glasses weren’t.

We slept really well, thanks to the super comfy beds, and the location was convenient. The rooms were pretty clean too. The lighting was the one thing lacking for us, maybe because we prefer having a full light on. Still, we had a wonderful stay!

The friendly, welcoming service really stood out. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and we felt well looked after. It’s good value for money, and we’d definitely stay again next time we’re in the area. Our room at Hi-Way 8 Motel in Stawell was clean, comfortable and well looked after, with everything we needed to relax. The location was convenient and quiet, so getting around was easy while we could still enjoy some peace. The beds were super comfy and we had a great night’s sleep. Highly recommend!

Mason was so helpful when the Spirit of Tas '1' was delayed two days getting back from drydock, throwing all but one of our accommodation bookings out the window. He moved our booking without any penalty to us. We were on our way to board the Spirit of Tasmania at Geelong, so the overnight stop was perfect. The young couple who recently bought this Motor Inn are lovely, and I’m confident it’s a place to keep an eye on as it develops. It had heart. Our clean, lovely room was tucked away at the back. We could hear some road noise, which reminded my husband Mark and me of our childhood homes, both of which had road noise. It wasn’t offensive, and we didn’t hear the other residents until morning, when we were awake anyway. Then someone started a very lumpy V8 and let it idle to warm up, no automatic choke in that baby, and it sounded very 'sweet'. We’d definitely stay again.
