The food at Astina Suites was excellent, with quality tapas and share plates, superb seafood and skewers rather than the usual pub food and pizza. There was a good range of beer and wine, and cocktails were clearly popular. We decided to stay in for dinner, and I’m glad we did. The rooftop pool and bar were lively on both visits, with Millennials snapping selfies and Balearic house music that made me feel like I was in Ibiza or Greece. It’s the best rooftop pool bar in Sydney, and it’s in Penrith. Suite 510 was a real surprise, tastefully furnished and decorated, with loads of space, a full kitchen, separate laundry, and a balcony with a six-seat outdoor setting. The huge bedroom had a king bed that could split into two singles, and the bathroom was my dream, with a full-sized tub and double rain shower. Even before booking, Karen gave amazing service. Astina Suites have nailed it. The western suburbs have grown up and are showing other regions what’s possible.

The rooftop was a highlight, with lovely views, good food and such a nice vibe. The whole hotel felt calm, modern and welcoming, and the sauna was incredible, clean, hot, relaxing and really well maintained. I left feeling completely reset ;) Loved my stay and would definitely come again!

Penrith wouldn’t have been an obvious destination for us, but we were there for a local event and choosing Astina was the right call. Our suite was bigger than most Sydney apartments, with two spacious bedrooms, each with its own roomy bathroom, plus a guest powder room. It was clean, fresh, well maintained and had all the facilities we needed. The kitchen and bathrooms were spacious and well equipped, and the big balcony had a table and chairs for eight. I slept comfortably and woke feeling refreshed, the bedding was fabulous. The top deck has a cute pool and bar restaurant, while the gym and spa are also on the top level. The gym was typical hotel style but well maintained, and the spa was well maintained and staffed. The one drawback was paying $100 for both of us to use the sauna, steam room, ice and hot tub. We did get $10 off as hotel guests, and still thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The afternoon at Theo’s rooftop bar was a highlight, with beautiful views, a great atmosphere and a lovely place to unwind. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel was spotless and comfortable, with everything we needed, and the sauna room was amazing, very clean, beautifully maintained and relaxing. I felt refreshed and calm afterwards. Highly recommend this welcoming, peaceful, well-kept hotel. We’ll be back!

The location was decent, and the room was nicely decorated with a good kitchen and laundry. I enjoyed the bath, though getting bubbles meant squeezing body wash from the wall dispenser into it. They gave us a late checkout for free when we asked, which was appreciated, but it didn’t help much because housekeeping knocked and walked in just after 10 am. The stay got off to a bad start when we waited over 15 minutes to check in. Two receptionists appeared at once, and neither apologised until they could see I was tired and annoyed. For the price, you’d think the carpet transition strips would be properly fitted over the edges of the carpet. It seems they’re more focused on maintaining the spa and fitness facilities, which close unusually early for a luxury hotel. I could overlook all of that if I’d slept well. The soundproofing between rooms seemed okay, but outside noise, including sirens, came through the windows loud and clear. Astina was a reasonable choice for the location, but it was a waste of money and I wouldn’t stay there again.
