Edgecliff Lodge Motel

During my 11-day stay the room had everything I needed, and the location was amazing, so close to the city and everything else. Gabriel was especially helpful and polite. He helped with the dryer, got someone to look at the fridge, passed messages to the cleaning staff, and helped with my bags at checkout. I appreciated all of it. When you’re travelling solo, a little help goes a long way. I’d stay here again.

Our stay wasn’t very positive. The motel is close to Darling Harbour, which is a real plus, and there are a few nice places nearby for an easy stroll. But the rooms had a noticeable odor that made it harder to relax after being out all day. It might do for a quick no-frills stop, but the smell would be a deal-breaker for a longer stay. Parking was a major hassle. There were very few spaces, they felt extremely tight, and the signs weren’t clear. Anyone with an SUV will find maneuvering particularly challenging. Once, another car blocked the driveway and access, so we had to wait before moving ours. That was frustrating and inconvenient. With the odor and parking issues, I wouldn’t recommend this motel to families or travellers looking for a comfortable, easygoing base. It seems better suited to solo travellers or people who put location ahead of comfort. There are probably better options in the area with clearer parking, better signage, and cleaner rooms.

Gabrielle was a huge help, finding me a room ready well before normal check-in, answering calls, bringing extra towels, bringing my Deliveroo dinner order up, and helping with plenty more. The room was an adequate size and the shower had good hot water. It was very reasonably priced, and I only had a short walk to see the specialist on Monday morning, which was great. The downside tonight is my neighbors in room 307, who keep smoking. I’ve had to keep the door and windows shut, so I can’t enjoy the cool rain breeze, and now the smoke is coming through the air con.

For what you pay, Edgecliff Lodge Motel is really good value. Our internal room was clean and quiet, and the boxed breakfast was a great way to start each day. It had cereal, milk, fruit juice, fruit in syrup, and a muesli bar. The train station is just up the road, with a bus stop across the street. If you don’t mind walking, the city centre, Circular Quay, and Darling Harbours are all doable. We spent five nights here and look forward to staying again.
