The food was the real highlight: breakfast was excellent, and in-room dining was delicious, high quality and generously portioned. The kitchen team seems to be putting in real effort. The rest fell short of what I expected from a Four Seasons, especially after great stays at the Four Seasons in Amman, Mumbai and Jakarta. At check-in, the receptionist said my room didn't have a bathtub, though it did. I was told a higher floor wasn't available, but after I called from my room to follow up, one "magically" opened up. Having to push for a basic Amex FHR benefit that staff should offer proactively was frustrating. There was no welcome gift, unlike the Prosecco or fruit I'd received at the InterContinental and Shangri-La earlier that week. Housekeeping also missed turndown the first night. They apologized the next morning, but the whole stay still felt ungenerous and uninspired. Front desk service and housekeeping seemed to be cutting every corner. For the famous Four Seasons hospitality, I'd choose the InterContinental or Shangri-La.
The club floor made this stay special. Laura, Thibault and the others were incredibly warm and accommodating, and the breakfast and snacks through the day were fantastic. Our room was beautiful, with a view over the Sydney Opera House, a real bucket-list moment. Great location too, with lovely rooms and service. The property is a little dated, especially around the pool. I went there several times and found plates and dirty towels left out, with no cleaning done. The pool and hot tub also show significant wear, including missing tiles.
We had a romance package with breakfast, parking and free drinks at the Grain Bar, and it was completely worth it. The room was spotless and had stunning views of the Harbor Bridge and Opera House. We stayed in a Studio Sydney Opera View Club Suite, a good option below the very pricey rooms if you want a view. Club access was handy for drinks and snacks, though the club itself is at the back of the hotel and doesn't have a harbor view. It was a good stay, but the crowds made it feel more like a busy Marriott business hotel than a typical luxury FS. The lobby was a zoo, with lines at the front desk and for breakfast at Mode, and kids riding scooters around. It felt as though a cruise boat had unloaded everyone across the street at the FS. If you're driving, getting in and out of valet on Circular Quay is tricky. There were gaps all around the room door. The blackout shades worked, but light still came through the door, so I twisted the outside light bulbs to switch them off. Traffic and bikes on the highway right below were constantly loud for hours, late into the night, and the soundproofing was poor. We stayed at the nearby Park Hyatt too and preferred the quiet and balconies there. Both places are pricey, so look for the best deal.
Dhairyaraj, the Guest Experience Manager, greeted us as soon as we got out of the car, and his warm, attentive manner set the tone for the stay. He clearly cared about making things seamless, and his professionalism made a strong impression from the start. He's exactly the sort of person you'd hope to have representing a Four Seasons. The room was quiet and thoughtfully set up, with a very comfortable bed and blackout shades that worked perfectly. The food was outstanding too, both in quality and consistency, with great service whether dining in or around the property. People like Dhairyaraj, along with all those thoughtful details, are what make this stay a reminder of why the Four Seasons brand stands out.
The birthday surprise for our daughter was a lovely part of our family's four-night summer stay at Four Seasons Hotel Sydney in August. We came into a thoughtfully decorated room, and seeing her huge smile made it a really meaningful moment. We're grateful the team made her celebration feel so special. The welcome at check-in was warm and friendly, and we felt at home right away. The location was convenient for exploring Sydney, and our spacious, comfortable room made the stay relaxing. Thank you for the wonderful memories. We'd love to return.
