Glenferrie Lodge

We had a spacious room with a lovely terrace, and breakfast at the lodge one morning was fantastic. The neighborhood was charming, and the ferry made it easy to get into Sydney proper. It was less than a five-minute walk away. We spent our first two nights in Australia here and had a great stay. We’d recommend the place, and would give it 4.5 stars if we could.

The shared showers were spotless, which put my mind at ease. The room and bed were clean and comfortable, and the location was amazing. I stayed two nights and loved the $15 buffet breakfast with bacon, eggs, pancakes and sausages. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator and it’s three stories. I was on the top floor and managed fine.

The property is old and about to close down, so the prices are good. Breakfast was excellent and the staff lovely, but the rest was pretty dismal. When the showers or toilets near our room were blocked, there were other ones we could use. Spiders and birds were removed promptly.

The patio was a pretty spot to eat breakfast, which was free, and the shared bathrooms were clean and available whenever we needed them. The rooms were simple and stylish, and comfortable. It’s a lovely quiet neighborhood within walking distance of trains and the harbor ferry. Parking was surprisingly easy on a weeknight, though it could be tricky at the weekend. We loved the place and would absolutely stay again.
