Mercure Sydney Blacktown

The bathrooms could use a renovation: there were lots of cracked tiles, and the shower screen didn't seal. The room itself was large and comfortable, though, and we enjoyed our stay. The staff are amazing and a real asset to the hotel, especially the Philippino manager on duty when we arrived, who went above and beyond to meet our needs.

The people here are the standout. I've never seen such friendly employees or hospitality. Mary and Lorita, apologies if I've got the spelling wrong, made us feel truly at home, and they're a big reason the Mecure black town will be our choice when we visit family from now on. We just checked out after our second stay at the Mecure and were just as happy as the first time. The rooms were clean, comfy, and well equipped, breakfast was great, and the location was perfect for what we needed. Thank you again, girls x

We slept really well, as our room was very quiet, clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the hotel's location and accessibility were very convenient. Having plenty of parking was handy, and Sporties was easily accessible for dining. The hotel's commitment to sustainability was an unexpected bonus. Thanks to all the wonderful staff for an amazing stay at Mercure Blacktown.

The room had some handy mirrors, so there were several places to do your hair, but the bathroom had no exhaust fan and its power point didn't work. My side of the comfortable, supportive bed was so close to the wall that I had to crawl across it or have extremely narrow legs to get in. There was no room for a bedside table, so I had to put my things elsewhere. Noise made it hard to rest. With the air conditioner on, it sounded like sleeping in a cicada colony. With the window open, we could hear music and poker machines until around 3 am. Neither was restful. Breakfast was included, and the range was reasonable, but the signs gave conflicting prices, some said $26 and others $23. The pancake machine was broken for three days and seemed to have an identity crisis: it made either pancakes the whole length of the conveyor belt or tiny popcorn sized ones that felt more like garnish. The toaster was inconsistent too, locked on extremely high one day and burning just one side the next. Breakfast area coffee was very poor, enough to feel less like an oversight and more like a strategy to make you buy a proper coffee at reception. That was really the only decent coffee option. Complimentary popcorn was a nice touch. My ratings: breakfast 2.5 / 5, coffee 1.5 / 5, room comfort and noise 2 / 5, bed 3.5 / 5, bathroom 2 / 5, overall 2.5 / 5. The hotel could be comfortable, but a bunch of small snags add up. Nothing quite ruined the stay, but very little worked smoothly. With practical fixes and more attention to detail, it could be much better. At present it suits people who are patient, adaptable, and able to laugh at minor annoyances.
