Novotel Sydney Parramatta

Friendly and helpful reception staff. The room had what we needed for the night. It’s an older establishment, but clean, with comfortable beds. The bathroom is a little small and compact. It was quiet, even on a football weekend. Parking spaces are narrow and cost $40/overnight. I’d definitely return.

The room was warm and uncomfortable at night because the air-conditioning didn’t cool it enough. Front office lowered the temperature setting when I asked, but it made little difference, so I had to buy a small fan. The room was right by the elevators and noisy, and there was a huge group of very noisy kids. There was no drinking water in the room either. The curtain rod was broken, and I had to tell front office to get it fixed. Housekeeping should have checked for that. The bathroom ventilator was extremely dusty, and an elevator wasn’t working. Breakfast food quality should be improved.

The location was excellent, with the Light Rail nearby and Parramatta’s Church Street close by, offering plenty of food options and a great atmosphere. I stayed at the Novotel for 50 nights and had a peaceful, comfortable experience. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was consistently tasty, and room service was very good throughout my stay. A very pleasant long stay.

The paid parking was so cramped that getting in and out of the car was difficult, and the room had plenty of maintenance and cleanliness problems. The carpet in our room and even the elevator looked filthy. Our towels were worn, and the blankets had a stale, musty smell. The air conditioning failed for two of our three nights, making it hard to sleep. Cracked ceilings and oddly protruding walls by the window also meant we hit our heads several times. Those unmarked bumps felt unsafe and careless. At more than $350 a night, we expected much better comfort and upkeep. This stay was a long way below what we expected, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel.
