Sometimes this place is good, sometimes it isn’t. I got an undercooked steak and was furious, but ate it rather than make the chef’s life harder. Whatever you do, don’t win the grand jackpot here. I had a bad experience with someone in particular, and when I asked for compensation for the steak, I got incredibly rude treatment. Just an average place. Decency wasn’t on offer.

We’ve eaten at the Palace a handful of times over the years and it’s been okay, but the last couple of visits were fantastic. We went last night and a couple of weekends ago, and the steaks, pastas and salads were all great. Some of the best pub food I’ve had in a long time. I’m not sure what’s changed, but they should keep it up. We’ll be back regularly if the food stays this good.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant, but my first visit today was disappointing. I ordered two entrees: the prawn cutlets were just prawns in a bowl and came out cold, and the cauliflower dish was mostly salad with not even a handful of cauliflower. For what we paid, I’d hoped for a better meal. I hope this comes across as feedback and not too harsh.

The portions have got smaller, and now they charged $3 for a little sweet chilli sauce with the wings instead of the ranch that used to be free. The nachos have hardly any meat now, almost vegetarian. The staff member taking our order at 18:55 was unfriendly. We’d been coming every month for years, but we won’t be back.

Lovely lunch today, and the food was great again. Hannah and Immy were especially helpful and courteous, smiling the whole time and happy to do whatever we needed.
