Park Regis Concierge Apartments

Good value, with decent-sized rooms. Having a kitchen and washing machine was a real plus. Staff were helpful, and there's a grocery store just a minute away, along with some fun bars. It's easy to catch a bus to a lot of beaches. Ideal!

We arrived around 9:45 pm and followed the lockbox instructions exactly, but no key came out. Its assistance line kept cutting us off, and each time we got a new person, so we could barely explain the problem before the call ended. We called support several times and were made to feel as if we'd entered the code wrong or somehow missed the key. They kept saying they'd left messages for the on-call person to let us in, but that was all they could do. Meanwhile, we watched a family check in after us and receive their key. After an hour, late at night, we had to find somewhere else to stay, leaving us $250 out of pocket on our interstate trip. The next morning I got an apology call. They said the phone number on file was wrong and that a refund was being processed. After three days without an update, we called and were told someone would contact us the next day. Another 24 hours passed with no contact, so I requested a refund through our booking provider Hotels.com and got it within days. We were shocked there was no business continuity plan or extra emergency contact. Poor communication and service throughout.

The rooms are great value and the location is perfect. There's a pub next door with top-notch food, and a shopping centre on the other side. A bus is only two minutes away, with connections to ferries to the quay.

We had a very comfortable bed, but the room on the fourth floor was tired and badly in need of refurbishment. The AC was so noisy that sleeping with it on wasn't possible. We stayed four nights, though looking back, we should have booked an AirBnB.
