The Clovelly Hotel

The food was good, but the service was really disappointing. The young blonde woman who served us was rude and seemed like she’d rather be anywhere else. She looked offended when we came up to order and barely acknowledged us. While we were paying, she turned back to chat with a coworker, complaining about other coworkers and customers. It left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. I’m glad I don’t live in the area. They could use some customer service training and basic manners.

The room was lovely and well kept, with very comfortable beds and a clean bathroom. Ours looked out onto the beer garden, which was entertaining later in the evening. It definitely wasn’t quiet, but we didn’t mind and fell asleep easily. The barn-style bathroom door is hard to close fully, leaving a small gap and not much privacy. It’s a short walk to lovely Clovelly beach and swimming pool, with a few nice cafés and restaurants just steps away. A great place for a few nights if you want a more relaxed stay outside the CBD. If noise keeps you awake, though, I wouldn’t recommend a weekend here. For dinner, the rump steak had great flavour and was cooked perfectly, but the “300g” portion barely seemed to reach 200g. The pepper sauce was delicious. Fish and chips were simple, hard to get wrong, and came with what tasted like homemade tartare sauce with a lovely creamy dill flavour. The fish tacos tasted great too, though the fish seemed like frozen packet fish.

Clovelly Hotel is in a perfect spot. You can run, walk, swim or snorkel right nearby, and there’s great coffee and breakfast across the road. The pub food is great, too, and the staff are lovely. I especially wanted to thank Katie for her warm smile and service ❤️ I love the area and will be back.

We went during the day last Sunday, and the two blonde women at the restaurant were lovely. They helped us choose what to eat and, since we’re not from the area, gave us some nice beach recommendations. The food was delicious. I’d recommend it.
