We were pleasantly surprised that breakfast was included. A basket of goodies was left outside our door, and we cooked ourselves a delicious feast on the BBQ in the private outdoor courtyard. The staff were friendly and attentive. I took my girlfriend for a romantic night away and we were both impressed by the gorgeous rainforest setting and private, self-contained villas. The cottage was beautifully presented, with a huge private bathroom featuring a two-person heated spa bath. Its glass ceiling and wall opened onto a private garden, giving us the feeling of a secluded rainforest bathroom. There was a small kitchenette with a fridge and microwave, a big TV, a king bed on the mezzanine and a combustion stove to keep us warm on cold mountain nights. We’ll definitely be back soon, highly recommend.

The outdoor spa had plenty of room for my wife and me, even with me being 6ft, and the king bed was so comfortable that we had the best sleep. In the morning we woke to an amazing breakfast hamper with fresh made bread. When we arrived, we were told a contractor might need to make a minor repair, which we didn’t mind. They upgraded us to a rainforest private spa suite, and the room was absolutely stunning. The staff were amazing, friendly and so helpful. Thanks for making our first wedding anniversary one we won’t forget. We’re already planning another stay.

The location is handy, opposite the start of the Witches Falls circuit walk. Witches Falls winery and brewery are a 10 minute walk away, North Tambourine shops are a two minute drive, and there’s a great Mexican restaurant there. Parking on site was easy. A fan and aircon were available for warmer days and nights. We chose the hot BBQ breakfast option, cooked on the patio BBQ. It came with a lovely fresh loaf of bread and pineapple juice. There are two breakfast options. There were several things that fell short for what the owners advertise as luxury accommodation, especially at $440 per night in February. One row of ceiling lights didn’t work. No champagne glasses were supplied, though for a couples’ retreat it seems reasonable to have glasses for wine, which was supplied, and bubbles. There was a plunger glass but no coffee grind, and a small pod machine would’ve been useful since they’re common at BnBs now. The shower stall, glass on two sides, was filthy with soap scum, and the other bathroom glass panels were dirty too. Looking out onto the native garden would’ve been pleasant through clean glass. The old securing points in the shower tiles hadn’t been neatly finished and looked tatty. Dust and dirt were scattered by the basin, which I think had fallen from the ceiling through the light and fan cutouts. That should be cleaned each day for the next guests. The bedside lampshade had large dark stains. There are many things to improve before I could rate the place well.

The breakfast hamper was a standout, full of fresh produce, home-grown items and superb homemade bread. We liked cooking our own breakfast and eating it in the cottage. After a day out exploring, hiking and seeing local attractions, coming back to the cozy cottage felt like being treated like royalty. Witches Falls Cottages is a hidden gem. The service was top-notch from arrival, and our cottage was immaculately clean with everything we needed. That bed was ridiculously comfortable, we didn’t want to get out in the morning! The heated outdoor jacuzzi was bliss after a day exploring, with warm water and stunning views. The location is great for seeing the surrounding area. Can’t wait to return!

Breakfast was a highlight, generous, delicious and thoughtfully put together, with fresh bread brought each morning. The hosts were welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. The setting is quiet and tranquil, close to walking tracks, cafes and wineries. Witches Falls Cottages is a lovely peaceful retreat tucked into the rainforest. Our cottage was cozy and private, and its wonderful spa bath made it perfect for a relaxing getaway. A great spot for a romantic escape or a restful break on Mount Tamborine.
