We ended up having a better holiday here than at a great Gold Coast place last Christmas. Sounds odd, but it’s true. Keeping things simple and enjoying the natural beauty made all the difference. Thanks to Tim, Ella and the friendly people around here. We’ll be back. We used the motel as a base for walking and getting out on our push bikes and motorcycle. The rooms are compact and simple, but suited us well. The area is so quiet that a car passes the back lawn only about every half hour. Tim was very helpful when I called before booking. You can walk downhill to the Settlers Inn Hotel for dinner, with over 20 different parmas, and there’s a brewery pub there too. Mount Beauty is five minutes away by car or a 15-minute walk. Falls Creek and Bright are both 30 kilometres away, and Yackendandah is about a 40-minute drive. We walked around the lake at Bogong Village, my wife went on a glider flight, and we also visited the Art Show and the Markets. We were living the dream!

A good place for cyclists, and Tim is a legend. He even let me take his bike for a spin. I booked an economy room and it had everything I needed, plus a few extras: fridge/freezer, microwave, shower, hair dryer, bedding, towels, kettle, lots of coat hangers, and double blinds that made it easy to sleep. The tap water is almost like mineral water.

Our last-minute stay at the Bogong Moth Motel came about when our car broke down. The room was quiet and super clean, so we were very comfortable. Tim, the owner, was amazing and offered us a lift to the shops, then drove us to the next town to pick up our car. I highly recommend the place.

Bogong is one of the few places around that lets you book just one night during snow season, so I didn’t have to pay for an extra night I wouldn’t use. We stayed in the family room on the way to Falls Creek, and Tim was friendly and accommodating. The room was spotless and the heater was already on when we arrived. I’d made a special request, and Tim went beyond what I’d hoped for. I’d book here again.
