Mercure Bendigo Schaller

The room was functional, but much too cramped for two. There was barely space to take two strides. I booked a room with a balcony, expecting it to be useful, but it was on the ground floor, fit one person and looked out over the dirt carpark. After a show, we got back at 10:30 pm and had to park a long way away. On checkout nobody asked where we’d parked, so we reached the boom gate, had to turn around and go back in for the pass. The whole experience left me unimpressed. I recently stayed in Melb CBD for less than this cost, and the room was bigger, higher up, and had better quality furnishings. I can’t recommend this Mercure and won’t stay here again.

The room and bathroom, especially the shower, were smaller than I expected, but everything was clean and the staff were nice. We were only there one night and had a nice stay. There was a lot going on in reception, and the artwork was cool to see. Parking was chaotic. The front and back were full, and people were parking wherever they could.

The largest room was a good call, since the bathroom only really works for one person at a time. There’s no room service, which made things hard for me as a disabled guest. The carpark was difficult, traffic noise carried on all night, and there’s no fly screen door to the balcony. The room was clean and modern, the staff friendly, and the place presented well. Just remember it’s small, and more like Mecure meets Ibis Styles/Budget.

Clean throughout, with lovely staff and a fun vibe. Smokers should be aware that this property is on hospital grounds. I have that filthy habit myself, and it can be a stretch. Apart from that, I absolutely recommend staying here.
