Oaks Toowoomba Hotel

We picked Oaks for its location near Queens Park, and it met our needs. The staff we encountered were pleasant, though we didn’t interact with them much. Several times we tried to place a room service lunch order but nobody answered, so we ate at the event instead. When we came back, we found it had closed, with no late night snacks or dessert available.

The room was comfortable and the staff were really friendly. I loved my stay and will definitely come back.

The service was great and very helpful, and the rooms were clean and tidy. Still, for the price, the surroundings don’t feel very luxurious. Central Plaza has similar rooms for less, while Burke and Wills makes a stay feel much nicer. If you’re charging $600 a night, guests need more. There wasn’t even a minibar, and the soaps and other toiletries in bottles hanging in the bathroom, though convenient, give the place a two star feel.

The location is perfect, with anywhere you might want to go within walking distance, and we were pleased with our stay. Our room was spacious and I loved the balcony, though the TV stereo was oddly quiet and needed to be turned up quite high. The shower area looked a bit worn and could have been cleaner. Staff were very forthcoming. We were allowed to check in early and had sparkling wine ordered for our anniversary on arrival. We enjoyed the pool and gym, which was fairly private and clean, though the rowing machine didn’t work. Separate pool towels would be useful. We used the room towels, then later found some in the gym, so you can probably take them from there. We stayed one weekend night. Parking outside is free, or the garage is an extra $15.
