Riviera on Ruthven Motel

Craig, the new owner, is extremely helpful and committed to giving guests a good stay, and the other staff are very welcoming. The standard rooms have a parking spot right outside, and there’s a pool, though the area is a little old. Small jobs are underway to restore aging parts of the place. You can arrange very cheap breakfast and laundry before you arrive. Rooms have Wi-Fi, and restaurant recommendations are provided. It’s peaceful despite being on the main road, with quick access to the hospital, shopping village and cafe. Comfortable and affordable, with everything you need.

The location was great, and the family room was spacious, but the check-in manager was rude and abrupt. The cups and plates were disgusting, and the bedsheets were filthy when we pulled back the covers. There was grease and food on the table and chairs, and the mirror by the door was smeared, as if a small child had rubbed their hands on it. The room didn’t seem to have been cleaned properly, apparently after a family stayed the night before. I went to the office to complain. He said he’d be there in a minute, but never showed up. A cleaner came five minutes later and changed the beds, wiped out the cups and cleaned the table. Nobody even apologized. Very poor management.

On our way to Brisbane in December 2025, we stopped at Riviera on Ruthven Motel and had a very comfortable stay. The room was clean and quiet, and the location was convenient. We’d happily stay there again.

The room was clean and very comfortable, and the free brekky was much more than I expected. They even had lactose-free milk and gluten-free cereal. Thanks so much.
