Direct Hotels – Kensington at Central

The location is the only thing going for this place. It's very expensive for such low quality, and the reception staff were unbelievably rude and unprofessional. The rooms were badly neglected: mould smell, thick mould in the air conditioner, cockroaches, stains on the carpet, and a sink that absolutely stinks, surely a plumbing issue. Mould on the bathroom ceiling had been painted over. The fan squeaked so loudly it couldn't be used, and its other two functions didn't work. The couch and armchair were the most uncomfortable I've ever known. The lift was out for my first 24 hours. The list goes on.

I paid $800 for two nights, and the room was revolting. Grease covered the surfaces, the carpet was full of foul stains, mould was growing through the apartment, and there were piles of cockroaches. It turned my stomach just thinking about that filthy place afterward. The air conditioning was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on. It didn't seem like the rooms were cleaned at all. On top of that, they charge 3.52% for card payments, which is illegal. The owners seem focused on taking as much money as possible and don't care how disgusting the rooms are. Do not stay here. The worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

The beds were good, and the linen looked clean and fresh. The location was convenient, close to everything we needed. There were stains on the carpets, though, and the rooms could have been cleaned better. At check-in, the woman at reception was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We later had an issue with the curtains, and a young man at reception was friendly and sorted it out quickly.

They charged us an excess cleaning fee despite there being no dirty dishes left out and no mess anywhere. They exaggerated their claims over very trivial things. Staff were rude and barely did any work at the front desk. This hotel feels scammy, to say the least.
