Direct Hotels – Dalgety Apartments

It’s a great central spot for the CBD, and the balcony is lovely for a balmy evening with a drink or two. The apartments are very large, with a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. The bed was really comfortable. Service is available for stays over a week.

For the price and location, the room really should have been cleaner before we arrived. There was a dirty sock on the smoke detector, a toothbrush and toothpaste still in the second bathroom, and a roll of carpet in the second bedroom cupboard instead of linen. Not a good look.

The apartments are roomy and laid out much better than a hotel room, and the location is great. We’ve stayed twice and would happily come back. They’re individually owned and managed through "Property Vine", so the apartment you get may not look like the online photos. I think those pictures show the larger two plus bedroom units. Ours were one bedroom apartments, different from the photos but still spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. Reception closes on weekends, so you have to call the after hours number. Some apartments don’t have a hairdryer, so tell reception ahead of time if you need one. The issues from our first visit were diligently sorted for the second.

The apartment’s location was good, and the room was dated but adequate. Getting checked in was very difficult because reception was poorly staffed and I couldn’t access it without the fob key. The directions from the car park to the apartment weren’t clear either. The lift stayed out of order for my entire visit, leaving me to climb six flights with luggage, or go down three flights, out to the street, then take a long walk to the main apartment building. The servicing at the seven day mark was pretty average, it might as well not have been done. I wouldn’t stay again.
