Beautiful hotel, but the service was terrible. We were out all day and the room wasn’t serviced. Reception said the do not disturb sign was on the door, but it wasn’t, the clean my room sign was. They said they’d send someone straight up. After 1.5 hours at the pool, we still had no towels. Reception told us to ask at the pool, where they seemed uninterested and said towels would be refilled eventually. None came, so we had to take the lift back to the room dripping wet. The room still hadn’t been serviced, so we got towels from someone nearby. By then we didn’t want to deal with anyone else, so we ordered room service. It tasted pretty awful and cost $250 for the family. The crème brûlée had a really weird taste, like it was full of alcohol, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. My wife and I were both up all night on the toilet, so I’m guessing something was wrong with it. I did win $300 at the casino, so there’s that, but I’ve never had such terrible service at a casino hotel. Usually the service is excellent. This was our second stay in a month, and the room wasn’t serviced last time either. We gave them a second chance, but won’t be back.

The Ville has plenty on offer, from restaurants, rooms, a day spa and poolside service to the usual gaming lounges. QDs bar upstairs has views of Magnetic Island, and there’s a spacious pool area below. The staff were friendly and professional, and the service was great. A nice place to visit or stay.

The pool was gorgeous, and the casino gave us a chance to have a win. We spent the weekend at The Ville, staying one night, and held my daughter’s baby shower at Quarterdeck. From the welcome gift and handwritten card in our room to the wonderful service from Steven and his team at Quarterdeck on Sunday, everyone went out of their way for us. Nothing felt like too much trouble. That old-fashioned kind of service is hard to find now. We really appreciated the whole experience and will be back again and again.

After the hand I was playing was finished, we politely agreed to leave, but the pit managers continued to make us feel degraded. My partner had had a little to drink, to be honest, though she’d been drinking water for the previous hour. They kicked her out while I was playing $100 hands at the tables. The way we were treated on the casino floor was horrendous, and it reminded me why I left Townsville. Absolutely disappointing. Honestly, I’m glad you kicked us out.

It’s a good spot for families or anyone visiting Townsville, and it seems to have been renovated recently, so everything feels fresh and new. The Ville is only about a five to ten minute drive from the beach and the city. Townsville is small, so places are close and traffic jams aren’t much of an issue. It also seems to be where lots of locals come for all kinds of occasions.
