Astor Motor Inn

I arrived at 2 a.m. on the 27th and was leaving on the 28th, but even after I called, they couldn’t get the dates right. The receptionist said I needed to book for the 26th, though I wasn’t staying that night. I was left without a room for an hour before someone finally sorted one out, despite reception being open 24 hours. The room was also very small. A very disappointing experience. Don’t stay here.

We booked dinner for a graduation while visiting from out of town. The restaurant’s website still listed pizzas when we checked it there, but the menu on the table didn’t. Staff said the menu had changed that day and the website would take 24 hours to update. When I asked if they could still make a pizza, they said no. Two days later, the site still said pizzas were available in the bar and restaurant every day from 10 am till late. The garlic bread was burnt, and the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. We went across the road to Pizza Hut for better service.

The food is excellent, and the price for the quality deserves five stars. My steak came out medium instead of medium rare, but it was so tender, beautifully coloured and perfectly seasoned that I wasn’t worried. The seasonal vegetables were cooked and seasoned just right, while the mash was okay. The rooms aren’t the flashiest, but they’re perfectly serviceable. I do recommend it.

The food and drinks were good. It’s a smaller bar, so get there early if you want a table. The rooms are a little small, but I was travelling for work and didn’t need much space.
