Garden City Motor Inn

After a long motorbike ride, coming back to a clean room and comfortable bed was just what I needed. I stayed one night, had a great experience, and thought the price was good too. It ticked all the boxes for me.

We were in room 7 for one night with my family, including my mother, my 18-month-old daughter and my niece. There was broken glass from several smashed bottles outside the room, so the kids couldn't walk to the pool without shoes. The pool gate also wouldn't lock, which is a drowning and safety hazard. When I raised both things with management, they said it was our problem. Inside, the room smelled of sewage and cockroaches came out at night. They were in my daughter's food and crawling over her bottles, so I threw the food away. I have video of them. When I spoke to the manager, an Indian male, he seemed unconcerned and said he knew we'd complain to get money back. That's not how we work. Some remorse, or at least a refund to cover the food and bottles we lost, would have been acceptable. The rooms don't look like the photos.

We made the room feel cosy and really romantic on a whim, and had a lovely time. It was spacious, and being able to cast to the TV was a nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the motel is close to town but far enough back to stay peaceful and quiet. We booked over a long weekend without realizing it, since we were visiting from interstate, and the price was still reasonable.

The room had everything we needed, including a microwave, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board, small fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits and utensils. It was clean and well kept, and a good size for a couple and child. The bathroom is old and tired in style, but clean. Staff were very friendly when we arrived. They take payment from your credit card at 10am before arrival.
