Hilldrop Motor Inn

I keep coming back whenever I’m passing through because I’ve been so happy with the rooms and service. It’s away from the city noise, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms come in different sizes, are clean and comfortable, and the bed was especially comfy. The owner is updating them to feel more modern, too. I really enjoyed my stay.

Room 10 was spacious and lovely, with fresh, welcoming decor inspired by the Hamptons. You wouldn’t guess that from the outside. I’m a light sleeper and was concerned about being so close to the highway, but I had one of my best nights’ sleep. A** Great stop on a long drive.

The place looked good in the photos and was cheap, but I wasn’t happy staying there. Next time I’d rather pay a bit more and go somewhere else. The beds were okay and the host was fine, but the tap was leaking and the room had a damp, wet-carpet sort of smell. It’s peaceful, about 10 minutes from See Park, and the drive is beautiful during jacaranda season.

Bruce was really helpful and even found us a microwave for the room. It’s a small budget motel, a few kilometres out of town, though that wasn’t much of an issue for us. The room was a good size and clean, and although it’s on the highway, it sits back from it and was very quiet. There was good parking for our car and dog trailer. We’d stay again.
