The Hobart view is stunning, and the property is well maintained and reasonably priced for its location. It has six rooms with shared kitchen, dining, entertainment, laundry, bathroom, and parking areas. During our stay it was well serviced, and the other guests respected the shared spaces. A cavity slider had come off its rollers and was hard to open and close, but it was fixed without any issue. Sadly, Wendy, the property manager whose details are listed on the front of the property, was rude and dismissive toward guests having trouble getting in. I directly witnessed her hang up on an elderly couple. I helped them find their booking details, and I’m not sure what would have happened otherwise. Other guests also told us they’d had poor interactions with her.

The views were amazing and the bed was comfortable, but that’s about all I liked. This is a shared house, not the private place the description led me to expect, so be careful when booking. The room had only a bed, table, lamp, and one chair, with little soundproofing. The bathroom, toilets, kitchen, lounge, and hot tub are shared. The TV is only in the common viewing room, not in the bedrooms, and the hot tub was filthy. The shower grate was full of hair, there was mould behind the caddy, and toilet paper seemed to be rationed. There was no heating control, so we cooked all night and had to leave the sliding door open because it was like an oven. It was way overpriced. I was horrified to find it was a share house after booking two nights. There was no refund, so I had to put up with the second night. In my opinion, they took a once beautiful home and ruined it by turning it into tiny rooms.

It’s basically a glorified backpackers, with noisy shared spaces. The room TV has no channels, since the TV is in the shared viewing room, and none of this was disclosed. A faulty light flickered all night. The owners were dismissive and weird when we complained, and didn’t respond well. We got no refund for the night we didn’t stay. Stay away!

Check-in and check-out are flexible since you use a locker box, and there’s plenty of street parking. The washing machine is free to use. Just be aware you’re booking a room in a shared house. The shared bathroom was luxurious, and the upstairs view was fabulous, but my room’s “mountain view” was actually of the garage. There was a junction box in the room that clicked whenever someone turned a light on or off.

I cancelled because of a medical situation, but Booking.com didn’t send the message for some unknown reason. Booking.com tried to contact the landlord and got no response. I also tried through the site and by mobile, hoping to discuss waiving the cancellation fee since the notice hadn’t arrived because of the system error. I tried to negotiate a rebooking or partial or full refund, but my messages went unanswered. I spoke briefly with the landlord, who said they would check, but there was no follow-up. Communication was very poor, and I lost all my booking money.
