Getting around was easy, with public transport nearby and a working train station just 200 metres away. We could walk to Kempsey's main shopping centre and swimming pool, and local beaches were close enough for a day trip to enjoy the mid North Coast's vibe. The Railway Hotel's themed rooms each have their own details, and the renovations are pretty zany. My room was clean, comfortable and affordable, and I liked the friendly atmosphere. There are great places to eat nearby too. I'd recommend it as a must-see destination.

The sheets were clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. It's a cheap hotel and good value for money. I'd like to see how the place looks after another year of renovations.

Something about the place feels off-putting. It looks like the last renovation was a long time ago, and there's a high chance of grey or black mould. The rooms are really tiny, with no change room. There may be black hole agent pawns on site. Avoid.

The bathroom was shared, but it was very clean. The room was lovely, with a fantastic wide verandah and great views.
