Mercure Newcastle Airport

We stayed three nights while a family member was at the RAAF up the road. I enjoyed watching the jets come and go, and the airport location was very handy. You couldn't hear the planes from the quiet, clean rooms. The staff were amazing and helped with what we needed. We also had a lovely meal at the Mach one restaurant, and parking right by the front door was easy.

I've stayed in plenty of hotels, Accor and otherwise, but the people here made this visit memorable. Everyone I dealt with was warm, genuine and professional. Mercure Newcastle Airport is lucky to have staff who are such a credit to the brand.

The bedding was fabulous and the staff terrific, but the price felt like a Mecure rate for an "Ibis" experience. The airport is convenient for a late arrival, though you could find better value in the city and pay for a cab. There was no mini-bar, snacks or wine glasses, just vending machines on the Reception floor. I was told all Mecure and some Pullman are moving to this model. Parking was another $15, and there were no shuttles. The bathroom was the biggest problem. There's no exhaust, and after a shower it FLOODS, a lot. You can't step out or use the toilet without mopping up dam-like amounts of water. The bathmat is useless, even if laid down first, as it soaks through in seconds. This is a SUPER DANGEROUS slipping hazard and a law-suit waiting to happen. With multiple complaints and this known issue, the hotel is negligent for not fixing it. Be prepared to clean up every time you shower.

The hotel was spotless, and my room was fresh, tidy and very comfortable. The team were fantastic throughout. I had a work delay in the area and needed to change my booking, and the manager and team kindly moved my reservation to a later date. Great customer service. Highly recommended!
