Nightcap at the Charles Hotel

The location is mint, close to amenities, and the room itself was nice and spacious. We stayed 5 nights over the busy holiday period and understood there’d be no room service on christmas day. They gave us water and changed the bath towels when needed. Still, I was disappointed with the servicing. Only one bed was half made, while the other wasn’t made at all during the whole stay. The carpet wasn’t vacuumed, the toilet wasn’t cleaned, the basin wasn’t wiped, and our cups weren’t washed. We’ve stayed in many serviced rooms before, so the level of service was confusing. Maybe they were understaffed. I didn’t expect much as it was a bar hotel, but I wouldn’t recommend coming with children.

The location downtown is great, and the people are friendly. The smell inside is a bit strong. The free drinks are great.

The rooms have been recently refurbished and are excellent, with a high-end bathroom refit. It’s a great place for an overnight stay, and the fresh cold beer was good too. Best of all was the outstanding service from SANDY. I left my electric toothbrush in the bathroom, then phoned Sandy from Coffs Harbour. She agreed to post it back to my Brisbane address. Sandy, I really appreciate your quick help. Staff like you make a business successful. Many thanks.

We were in town for a family function and found the stay cosy, safe, and convenient. The staff were great, as were the food and meals downstairs. We also got free drinks on arrival, and our room was serviced for free.
