Breakfast was included, and the shower had better pressure and temperature than I usually find in hotels. The staff were nice when they were around, though not much seemed to happen after 3pm. It’s a charming place, pet friendly, with high ceilings, winding narrow stairs and long hallways. My room and bathroom were tiny, probably among the smallest I’ve stayed in, with barely enough room for the double bed. The stay was easy and pleasant, and the price was reasonable, around $-$$.

The free breakfast was a nice extra, and they had GF options. Staff seemed to enjoy their jobs and were wonderful. I picked the hotel because it was close to the Mardi Gras parade, and it’s well placed for getting to the city and Bondi Junction. It’s basic, good value accommodation in a historic building between Woollahra and Paddington.

The noise started early, with staff and guests coming and going by the back door at 7am. I assume the hotel was full, since that’s where they put us. The room had mould throughout and only one small window, as shown in the photos. For almost $300, I didn’t expect a bathroom about the size of a porta loo, and it was dated and run down as well. This place is extremely old and badly needs renovation, so I wouldn’t call it a boutique hotel. We were glad it was just one night, and I wouldn’t stay here again given the condition of the place.

The little complimentary breakfast in the morning was a bonus. It’s a good spot for walking around an old Victorian-style neighbourhood. The room was fine, just enough for one, and the bathroom seemed to have been updated recently. Can’t complain, it was a good stay.

There was everything I needed in the room for a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and outgoing, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. The stadium is 5 minutes away, and it’s a 10-minute bus ride to the city centre.
