Quality Inn The Willows

The pool looked amazing, though cold, rainy weather meant we couldn't try it. It would be lovely in summer. Our room was spacious and clean, with a nice courtyard just outside and parking right at the door. Shops and places to eat were nearby, and the handy vending machines and simple help-yourself breakfast were both really nice.

We were happy with our meal at the onsite restaurant, and the staff who served us were great. It was close to shops and food, though the older hotel only seems to have had a few updates and really needs a full renovation. The shower head should be replaced, and many power switches were missing their covers. The bar fridge didn't keep our things cold or freeze our ice bricks. The air conditioner worked, but the inside could use a professional clean, not just a screen clean. Around midnight, a neighbour two doors up kept walking along the central garden path, coughing and arguing with his wife.

The rooms are a good size, and there's a nice balcony or terrace. Breakfast was a basic cold, help-yourself setup, with cereal and a little fruit, but no eggs or bacon. Some rooms may hear the nearby train every 20 minutes or so. It's only about 100 metres away, so you can hear it, though it wasn't a big issue.

Angus was great, always helpful and friendly, and he was happy too. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast fridge was well stocked. We had a room with a spa bath, which apparently counted as an upgrade. At our age, climbing a couple of steps to get into a bath isn't exactly an upgrade, LOL. Angus said to contact him next time so he can organise a room that suits our age better.
