Dunsborough Beachouse YHA Backpackers

The location is fantastic, right opposite the beach. I stayed one night, Friday to Saturday, in a double room on the second and top floor. The wooden floor squeaked a little, but it wasn't bothersome. The room was okay, with a single-door fridge and a heater, though there was no ensuite bathroom. This was my first YHA stay, so I can't say much beyond that my first impression was good. Check-in and checkout were quick. There were backpackers around, and it seemed some had found casual work nearby and were staying at the YHA long term. The place was clean and well maintained, with no old-shoe smell. Booking by phone or online was easy, and online bookings came with free Wi-Fi. The double room also had a small bag with a few basic cutlery items. No free breakfast, but tea and coffee were available all day.

A great spot with beach access, friendly staff, and a welcoming vibe. Reception hours are short, but the staff are still helpful. The building has some age to it, and our double/triple room was across from the bathroom, so it got noisy. Otherwise, it was fine. Like a lot of regional YHAs, it felt more rustic and worn than the busier ones that are kept in new condition. I'd happily stay again.

The yard is huge and sits right in front of the beach. Inside, the kitchen is spacious, the common areas are good, and the toilets are okay. The rooms have lockers, and they provide kitchen items, which was really helpful. Staff were very friendly. When I was there, it had a party atmosphere. Whether that suits you depends on what you're after.
