Woodstone Cottages

The location was a big hit, close to lovely restaurants and wineries, and the property had plenty of space for our dog, who loved it. My partner and I stayed last weekend and were so impressed. The cottage was clean and cosy, with great wifi, lovely kangaroos to see, and helpful staff communication. We’ll be back. Thanks so much.

Goanna is in a fantastic spot and the house itself is lovely, but poor upkeep really let it down. The agent came by to inspect the heating, but couldn’t fix it, so we had to wear coats indoors at night. After we left, I texted the agent with more details and never heard back, which was disappointing. The aircon couldn’t heat the main room because the auxiliary fan remote wasn’t working. Downstairs was freezing at night while upstairs got boiling hot. The woodburner has no door seal, so smoke gets into the room when lighting it or when it’s windy. The upstairs bathroom extractor didn’t work, and the dishwasher drawers were broken. The sink plug leaked, so we couldn’t fill the sink. We couldn’t enjoy the bedroom view because the roller blind chain was missing and it wouldn’t lift. There was a similar blind in the main room, and the fixes left by previous guests made it seem like these weren’t new problems. I hope the owners sort out the maintenance, because the location and buildings are still lovely.

The grounds are spectacular, with birds everywhere and kangaroos hopping around in the early morning and evening. It’s hard to believe Dunsborough town centre is so close. We got married here, using the lovely flat area for our marquee beside the huge lake. The four clean, spacious cabins were beautiful, each with a fireplace, and they sleep close to 30 people. Thanks to the staff for helping with everything we needed.

We loved our stay at Goanna Cottage and would definitely come back. Six of us had plenty of space, and the clean accommodation had everything we needed. The grounds are gorgeous. We walked around the dam, saw kangaroos at dawn and again in the evening, and had birds visiting too. Having breakfast outside with coffee and tea and a view of the bushland was so lovely. The BBQ had all the amenities, and there was a washing machine, dryer, and wood for the fireplace if needed. It’s very close to Dunsborough town, and our pizza order arrived in a flash. Margs is about 20 minutes away. It felt calming, like a home away from home. Thanks to the owners for having our family!
