The staff were helpful and supportive, but the rooms were small and the water didn’t look clean. Without a car, the location works well for solo travelers. With a car, getting around from here would be a nightmare.

I booked a room, then the hotel staff saw the rates going up and showed me a credit card error before canceling the booking. When I tried again, the price had doubled. I spoke with the staff at Majid Hotel, who asked me to wait and then canceled the booking too. They’re cheaters who don’t honor their commitments and just want to make as much money as possible.

The biggest letdown was breakfast. I told them well before booking and again a week before arrival that I’m vegan, and asked if they could cater for me. They replied, “yes, dear guest,” but all I could eat was the plant-based part of a mostly omnivore buffet. They didn’t even have plant milk. The stay itself was pleasant and very quiet, maybe almost too quiet, and the mattress was the best of our 10-day trip. The service was similarly calm. The building is lovely and old, in the Old City just behind the Shirvanshah Palace and 200mt from the metro. Rooms are on the small side, and the old bathroom made the stay less carefree.

We waited over an hour and a half in the lobby just to check in. The next day, we put out the “clean the room” sign before leaving, but at 7 PM the room still hadn’t been cleaned. Reception said someone would come within 10 minutes after we called, but nobody came. The poor customer service made for a very disappointing stay and showed little care for guests. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
