Passage Hotel

The location is the one real plus, and breakfast was fresh and tasty. The bed was comfortable, but the room sold as an upgraded deluxe was on the ground floor, damp and gloomy, with too little light to read. Wi-Fi was slow and only worked in the room. I felt uneasy about the place, and the front desk behavior made that worse. When staff took my phone to enter the internet password, they apparently gave themselves a five-star review from my account. The reception staff were rude and seemed to know I’d leave a poor review. I had two consecutive bookings, but after Booking.com cancelled my account, possibly because of this hotel, I couldn’t cancel the final three nights. I’ll contact Booking.com when I get home because what happened feels shocking. Many of the positive reviews seem to come from people who haven’t reviewed before, which says a lot. Avoid it or it could spoil your trip.

The room had appealing antique decor, and breakfast was good. Since I needed vegetarian food, they prepared mushrooms for me. The location was excellent, about five minutes on foot from Fountain Square and Old City, though you have to cross a main road or take the passage underneath it. I booked Ronnies botique Hotel, but it turned out to be Passage Hotel. They didn’t have the Antique Double Luxury Room I’d requested and gave me a standard antique Room instead. Their card machine wasn’t working, so I had to get cash from an ATM. They took 50 Manage off the bill over five days, or 10 manats a day, which didn’t feel like enough for the inconvenience.

The location worked well for getting around, and it was quiet enough to sleep. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had plenty of choice. My room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, with what I needed for a restful stay. The staff made a strong impression from arrival, welcoming and professional throughout. I especially appreciated the attention from Jamil at reception and the genuine care for guests. I’d happily book here again and recommend it for its comfort, cleanliness, and hospitality.

Being near Nizami Street made it easy to walk around the lively area and Old Town, and the staff were helpful enough to offer us a room upgrade when we asked. The bathroom cleanliness fell short of what I’d hoped for, though. Still, a solid stay with good service and a great location.
