The room, bathroom, and bed were in good shape, though a bit old and shabby. The ventilation made an annoying noise at night, and we shivered in late September. Breakfast isn’t for vegetarians, with no vegetables apart from apples and pears.

For a supposed four-star hotel, this is the worst excuse I’ve seen this side of Macedonia. Breakfast doesn’t start until eight, and it’s overpriced for something that’s meant to be free. The shower is dangerous, there’s no coffee pot in the room, and the staff are rude and incompetent.

We’ve stayed twice and found it great for families with young children, since they have family rooms and suites. It’s one of the best hotels in Sheki. There’s indoor and outdoor dining, and the food is tasty and nicely presented. Friendly staff, cleanliness, and a good atmosphere throughout the hotel, including the dining area.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, just stopped in for a beer at Buta bar. The bar itself was nothing special, though it was a nice place. There weren’t any other customers on the evening we visited. What stood out was the reception clerk’s help: he explained the best way to get a train ticket to Baku for the next day, called the station ticket office, and sent a taxi driver to help us buy it. Maybe the best service we’ve had so far in Azerbaijan!

I only stayed one night in this quiet town and wasn’t expecting much. It turned out to be a nice, comfortable hotel that seems to be the best in town. The morning view from the balcony really caught my attention.
