Villa Karaka

Some meals arrived uncooked, so we had to send them back. The food was plain and simply prepared, just enough to fill you up when you're hungry. The waiter said everything was bought at the market, which was why they had no fresh salad on Sunday, since the market was closed.

We'd had a full day of hiking and were walking in heavy rain at night. We stopped to rest under the roof outside the building, but as soon as we got there, the security guard told us something like, “Get out of here, this is a private place!” The guard was really unpleasant. After that, I can't imagine the place itself being any more welcoming.

Neum is beautiful, but Vila Karaka was nothing like the owner described on her page. The owner was very rude and unprofessional. There was no Wi-Fi, the TV didn't work, and the beds were very uncomfortable. The place is near the end of the sea, at a spot called Jazina, about 2 miles from the beach and town center, so you need a car to swim at the beach. There's a small exit to a little beach, but the owners of the other properties don't let you walk through, which means driving those 2 miles. At 83 Euros a night, it was too expensive for me. Be careful and make sure you get a receipt from the owner of Vila, because she isn't going to give you one. There's no housekeeper, and you have to pay extra for that service. We found a much better place for less money, with full service, at Vila Sun.

We first stopped by "accident" on our way to Dubrovnik, and liked the food so much that we came back on the return trip. The pasta is great, and the biftek is thick and well prepared. Expect around 120kn per person for food and drink. Recommended.
