Motel Le Pont

The staff were actually nice to us, and breakfast was very good. But the room we got through Booking wasn’t the one in the pictures. It had an old-fashioned bed and wardrobes, and the AC barely worked, if it worked at all. There was a cigarette smell in the room. I hate misleading advertising and cigarettes, so two stars.

My room was on the small side, and so was the bathroom, but it was comfortable enough. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was included in the price. The hotel isn’t right in the city centre, but it sits by the river, and my room had a lovely terrace overlooking the river and countryside. There’s plenty of private parking on site, plus a restaurant, a bar and a lovely outdoor seating area right by the water. I’d come back.

The Art Deco style is interesting, and I bet this place was state of the art in its day. The locals seem to love it. Rooms are small and sparse, and it’s quite noisy. There’s no lift, and the stairs get slippery when wet. Food was okay, nothing amazing. Breakfast comes from a menu with little choice, no cereal or yogurt, and fruit is available only if you ask. There’s an ensuite. Not much English is spoken.

The restaurant was okay, and the city centre is a 10-minute walk away. The staff were somewhere between friendly and annoyed. The rooms were dirty and disgusting, with hair left by other guests, lots of insects and an unpleasant smell. The walls are very thin. The pictures say more than I can.
