Meridian Inn

The location is why this will keep being my home away from home. Dover market is under five minutes away for fresh hot meals and groceries. There's also a trinket and tourist shop run by an awesome family, and the beach is less than a 30-second walk. The last part I'm almost hesitant to share! I loved the staff and the people I met. You can tell the room is older, but that's part of its charm. It was clean, and I was surprised, a little embarrassed even, that they cleaned the dishes too. It was everything I didn't know I needed.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the cleaning staff are fantastic and very accommodating. Dover Beach is a two-minute walk, the water is warm and great for a dip, and a convenience store is three minutes away. There's a lady on the corner with great food and some gentlemen with lovely baked goods five minutes off. The bus stop is also about five minutes away, with frequent buses into the city for $3.50 BDS. The room has a kitchenette and comfortable beds, so there's no need to pay for Sandals or the Hilton. If you value simplicity, cleanliness, and easy access, Meridian Inn is a good Barbados destination.

It's well located and cheap, and the room was okay, but you get what you pay for. The king beds are two twins pushed together. Bring earplugs unless you want the rooster waking you at 6 AM.

For a very reasonable price, this is great two-star accommodation. The rooms are basic but have what you need: a nice super king bed, good air con, strong WiFi, a good fridge, and cable TV with sports channels for Premier League and other major soccer. The location is excellent, three minutes from Maxwell Beach and a ten-minute walk to Dover Beach. Reception were very helpful, and the cleaning staff did a super job. There's a nice outdoor lounge, plus a room to leave your luggage on checkout day. We were having trouble finding a decent hire car, but the woman at reception sorted us out. Non-residents are welcome at the Dover Hotel's nice bar and food area.
