The Monteray Hotel

The kitchen was fully equipped, the room was clean, and the pool was lovely and clean as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's a sensibly priced place at the quieter end of St. Lawrence Gap, with several bars and restaurants within walking distance. Across the road there's a quiet beach where you can watch turtles swimming slowly by. My only gripe is the studio has no full-length mirror, even though there's plenty of room for one. I'll be back.

The location made meals easy: a Jamaican restaurant, bakery, and mini supermarket were all within a three-minute walk. We cooked most days, and the kitchen had a decent setup: phone, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, four-burner electric cooker with oven, fridge, cable TV, AC, and hot and cold water. The shower was noticeably tiny, even for me being petite. Our queen bed was two singles pushed together, but we slept fine. The room was clean and spacious enough for quarantine, and the staff were friendly. One night reception had already left, but the security guard helped us out. The reception team also made takeout easy, bringing deliveries to our door and helping coordinate when needed. Dale, the tour guide and taxi driver, was AMAZING. He shared lots of useful information and took the worry out of the complicated testing process. I didn't like that a plain-looking door near the bathroom separated our apartment from the neighboring one. I forgot to take a photo, but it didn't feel secure. There was only a small latch on our side, and the door didn't block sound. Thankfully, we didn't hear much from the neighbors.

I spent three nights and four days here and found it clean and comfortable for a short visit. The hotel workers were accommodating, helpful, and funny. It's a block from the beach, with plenty of food and entertainment nearby. Having a full kitchen and utensils made the stay convenient. I noticed other guests enjoying early coffee and a paper on their balconies and patios. Thanks to Junette for looking after my housekeeping. I'd definitely come back.

We found the Monteray when we urgently needed to get away from an Airbnb with no running water. They rearranged things so they could fit us in for the rest of our stay, and we'll always be grateful. The place has a pool, the location is perfect, and the staff are fantastic. Rooms are spacious, clean, and have everything you need. We'd absolutely stay again. Highly recommended.
